How Free is Free?

At the Flat Planet Phone Company, we enable you to start your own phone company for $199 a year. I thought that our web site is pretty clear about that. However some one else thought otherwise…

HI. DO I ONLY PAY $199 A YEAR AND CAN MAKE AS MANY CALLS NOT ONLY ME BUT MY CUSTOMERS TOO OR IS THERE A LIMIT. ALSO I CAN CALL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD FOR AS LONG AS I WANT AND ALSO MY CUSTOMERS. OR IS THERE ANY FEES CALLING INTERNATIONAL. PLEASE EXPLAIN MORE. THANKS,

I guess the marketing efforts of the so called “free calls” companies have been so successful that there are people who think that you can actually talk as much as you want — for free.

In my mind that is very sad. It actually borders on false advertising. Sure if you read the real terms of service, you will find that “free calls” are limited, but their advertising leaves a different message. Don’t ask me why but many of these companies have names starting with a “J”. Is that because it is a joke??
